Ted secures success for residents on Ashby Road Following a number of complaints about parking on Ashby Road, local councillor Ted Parton contacted the relevant officers at Leicestershire County Council who subsequently investigated the matter and made a recommendation for restrictions on parking. “We have carried out further investigations and undertaken surveys of the parked vehicles which are now complete”, the Environment and Transport Department reported back to Ted. “Having completed our assessment we have concluded that there is a need for some no waiting restrictions on this length of road. We intend to propose double yellow lines in close proximity to the roundabout with the ring road along with peak time restrictions further down Ashby Road”. “It is now a matter for officers to draft the proposals which will then be sent to me for approval before an advertisement is placed”, explained Ted. “As soon as this has happened I will contact local residents to get their approval and then give the go-ahead for the implementation of the proposals.” This is just one example of the way in which Ted, as the County Councillor for Loughborough South – which embraces Southfields and Shelthorpe wards – is fighting continually on their behalf.
